Enders Game: Set in the future, Earth is at war of a race of aliens known as the Buggers. The military has discovered that the military geniuses are not the time-hardened experienced professionals, but rather the specialists who were trained as military strategists from a very young age. These children are even bred for the role. Ender Wiggin is one of these children, and over time, he establishes a rapport with fellow cadets and even establishes a forum where these friends can share ideas and train each other. These children discover that the tactics they learn are very useful in advancing in the video game training sessions and other challenges that are presented to encourage team competition. Ender is a very gentle, very moral-conscious boy, and often questions whether he would really even want to fight a war, but he participates in the training simulations nevertheless, hoping that once he completes the training, he'll be allowed to go home.
